“Agency Wars” has become one of the most anticipated annual events for Advertising Agency, Marketing and Media industries in Toronto. Agency Wars sells out in days. In the last eight years, Agency Wars has introduced over 6,000 people to the sport of Olympic-style amateur boxing; trained over 200 amateur boxers drawn from the ranks of Toronto’s agencies, digital shops, media houses, and broadcasters; and generated over $300,000 for charity.
The Movember Foundation is changing the face of men’s health. Movember is the largest global men’s health charity and seeks to stop men dying too young. Movember Foundation by the numbers: 5,000,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas; in 21 countries; 1,200 men’s health projects funded. Men’s health is in crisis. Gender is one of the most consistent predictors of health and life expectancy: men die on average 6 years earlier than women; 11 Canadian men die from prostate cancer every day; testicular cancer is the most common cancer in Canadian men 15-29 years old; on average, 8 men each day take their life through suicide in Canada. We can’t afford to stay silent. Each boxer in Agency Wars is required to raise $1,500 for Movember. In addition proceeds from all our sponsorships will go to this important cause.
Test yourself mentally and physically. Participate in a fun, life-changing, transformative experience designed to raise money for a worthy charity. 40 participants (20 men, 20 women) will be selected and trained by Professional and Olympic Boxers, Trainers, and Coaches for 12 weeks, 3 – 5 hours per week, to get you ready for the Gala event in the ring. Training includes Boxing Basics, Sparring, Strength & Conditioning, and Personal Nutrition. (Boxing Ontario is the sanctioning body). It’s like “Dancing with the Stars” with punching!
Anyone in the Advertising Agency, Marketing, or Media industries, related freelancers, or suppliers, is eligible. Any age, weight, ﬁtness level or gender is welcome to try out. Just show up.
Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Atlas Boxing Club, 100 Bridgeland Ave., Unit A (Dufferin & 401). No need for gym clothing. Sign a release. Fill out a questionnaire. Be assigned a bib number. Have your picture taken with your number.
Immediately following Recruitment Night, over 2-weeks, (2 sessions per week, 1 hour each) Evaluation Sessions will be held at Riverdale Park (dates TBD)
(eastside of the DVP, next to Broadview) and at Atlas Boxing Club. Wear gym clothes, pin on your bib number, and bring water. Boxers are evaluated for general ﬁtness, attitude (“heart”), possible weight & age match-ups, basic boxing IQ, and rivalry potential.
If you are successful, on September 15th, you will be sent an email informing you that you’ve made the cut and whether you are Red Team or Blue Team.
Intensive training starts for 10-weeks 3 – 5 hours per week. Training includes Boxing Basics, Sparring, Strength & Conditioning, Personal Nutrition. Participating Boxers are provided with all necessary equipment & training FREE (a $10,000 value!). All potential boxers must complete a medical with their doctor and have a doctor’s permission to ﬁght.
Reach over 1000 key Agency, Marketing, and Media professionals participating as volunteer boxers or attending the Gala Event, representing close to 50 top companies in the creative industries—all in one room, with tens-of-thousands more watching a fully-produced broadcast of the ﬁght on Facebook Live. Highly ﬂexible sponsorship packages are available--customizable, marketing-focused, and reasonably priced—from the “Presentation Sponsorship” - ($50,000) to “Partner Sponsorships” (from $5,000 to $25,000) to a la carte items (ranging from $500 to $5,000).
